Marketing Poison Defined (2nd Part)
Let’s talk again about the words and phrases that are what I call “Marketing Poison”. Words and phrases that salespeople use every day and that do more harm than good and that literally have no effect on the prospects buying decision.
- The best
- #1
- Great quality
- Great service
- Superior service
- Integrity
- Honest
- Hard working
- Outstanding
- Elite
- Spectacular

- Going the extra mile
- We are here for you
These words and phrases and variations thereof are useless and should be stricken from your vocabulary… NOW! All your marketing from here on out should be comprised of three parts and three parts only. Whether it is a simple display ad or your business card. Effective, profitable marketing pieces are made up of three components:
Anatomy of the Perfect Ad1. Attention grabbing headline. Draw them in wanting more! Grab them by the collar, yank them towards your message and yell “LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME!”
2. Inject substance that creates EMOTION and gets them frothing at the mouth. I am dead serious! Get them excited, focus on WIFM (What’s In For Me?), push your USP, create reasons for them to want to call you. NOW!
3. A powerful CALL TO ACTION that has them screaming “I WANT IT… I NEED IT… NOW!“
Lose the picture. Loose the cutesy slogan. Loose the ego. Gain more Clients!
